News & Information
This week in your child’s classroom:
Infant 1 – Singing and Dancing
Infant 2 – Outside time, Musical instruments and songs, Finger painting & St Patrick’s crafts
Junior Toddler – We did marble painting for the Southern Vermont Art Center show, enjoyed a lot of fresh air, and built LEGO structures.
Toddler – Painted Planets both Real and Pretend, we did dot to dot rocket ships, played outside as much as possible, and we are working hard on our hand washing
• learning about maple syrup and sugaring
• visited Mance’s family sugar house, where we learnt and watched how maple syrup is made from taping trees to boiling
• exploring the outdoors, during warm sunny days as well as rainy days.
• having fun driving trucks through water, jumping in puddles, collecting water, making mud pies and creating dams in a sand box
Preschool 1 – Finger painting, gross motor games, find the golf ball with your name on it, open ended art activities, music and movement.
Preschool 2 – continued primary color exploration, created a lot of artwork, had some rain play and some mud play, went to the library
Afterschool Program – Played outside, worked with seed beads, practiced gymnastic skills, painted, colored spinning tops, we had a fantastic week!

Toddler –Thomas Trains with magnetic connectors that fit on the train tracks.
• used pots and pans, spoons, spatulas, etc for outdoor play
• big trucks
• shovels, rakes and buckets
• pvc pipes and funnels for outdoor sensory table
Preschool 2 – crib size sheets
School Age –Couch And Size 5 girls’ clothes to have on hand for extra.
Staff News – We have two new staff at NDS. Felicia Blanchard has joined our team as a teacher assistant in our Preschool classrooms and Gwyneth Wainwright has joined our staff as a Substitute Teacher. Felicia starts on Monday and Gwyneth started yesterday. We welcome them both.
Felicia was born and raised in Vermont. She started babysitting when she was 15 and fell in love with children. She did an internship at Northshire Day School when she was a senior in high school and had a great time volunteering here. She went to Colby Sawyer College and received her Associates in Arts. Felicia is currently attending Northern Vermont University to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. In her free time she loves to snowboard, play with her dog, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
Gwyneth, born and raised in Vermont. For high school she attended boarding school in Pennsylvania. During her time in high school she volunteered as a “helping hands” assistant where she mentored and tutored girls in Pre-K through second grade. Gwyneth attends East Stroudsburg University, majoring in Early Childhood Education. While at ESU she volunteered for an after school program mentoring and tutoring students from 3rd-6th grade. Gwyneth loves working with young children. Gwyneth heard about NDS from her sister. Her nephew who attends NDS. Gwyneth has been working with children for eight years providing care for family and for volunteering in various programs. In her free time Gwyneth enjoys traveling, cooking and staying involved with her community.
Census – The census began on yesterday. We ask our families to please participate in the Census. Self-response to the Census is the #1 way to get federal dollars to Vermont!! Please see attached census flyer.
