Preschool Teacher Assistant

Join our stellar team of educators at Northshire Day School! We are seeking applicants for our Preschool Teacher Assistant position working with children ages 3-5. NDS is an Equal Opportunity Employer.


Applicants must be enthusiastic and have a passion for working with and educating young children, the ability to create a safe and nurturing environment, proficient written and verbal communication, knowledge about the STARS program, TS Gold, early childhood licensing regulations, and planning and

implementing a play-based curriculum. Preferred candidates will have skills and education in child development and learning, building family and community relationships, observing, documenting and assessing children, using developmentally appropriate practice, building quality curriculum following the

Vermont Early Learning Standards, ensuring a healthy and safe environment and a commitment to growing as an early childhood professional. Must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
  • Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Requirements:

Candidates must be available to work between the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm with an hour lunch break each day. Preferred candidates will have completed related early childhood education coursework and experience working with children ages 0 to 5. Candidates with an A.A. or B.A. in Early Childhood Education preferred.

  • High energy.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Willingness to complete all required training and professional development.
  • Must clear full background check.

Senior Toddler Teacher Assistant

Substitute Early Childhood Educator (per diem)

Must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


Requirements:

Candidates must have a high school diploma and completed Fundamentals of Early Childhood Education or are willing to in the first six months of employment. Preferred candidates will have an A.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education (or 21 related credits) and experience working with 0-5 year olds.

Kitchen Assistant (per diem)

Northshire Day School is looking to hire a Substitute Kitchen Assistant to fill in for our Food Service Director and Kitchen Assistant during vacations, holidays and training. Duties include: Food Preparation, Food Service, Dishwashing, Cleaning.


Requirements:

High School Diploma, Ability to lift 40 lbs. Previous experience preferred.
