Programs
Infant Program
At NDS, we understand that healthy development and learning begins at birth. Our infant program is designed to offer a secure place with knowledgeable teachers who honor your family’s routine, and know every day that they’re not caring for any child, but the most important child — yours. You want to know your child is safe and well cared for, which is why we strive to build a strong partnership with the families in our programs. We provide a stimulating environment to learn and grow, supporting the mastery of skills at each stage of your baby’s development.
Toddler Program
When your toddler’s in the right place, you just know. Our program is designed to give you that feeling — a safe place for your newly independent child to test out and learn new skills, wonder about everything, and discover how to make friends. It’s all alongside teachers who know that children learn best through play and open exploration of their surroundings. Additionally, we support families in their roles as parents and as their child’s first teacher by partnering in setting goals and routines to support the development of the individual child.
Pre-School Program
Many children benefit from their participation in our preschool program. The program is designed for children ages three to five years old. We have two preschool rooms, one for our younger three year olds and one multi-age classroom for 3-5 year-olds. Both utilize the Creative Curriculum, a play-based curriculum that centers on learning through play. We use an emergent learning model and teachers design curriculum based on the interests of the children. We have a strong emphasis on social-emotional development to support the development of kindergarten readiness skills. We collaborate with the Taconic & Green Early Education Department to provide services for children with specialized learning needs. We aim to give children a solid foundation for future success by inspiring their curiosity and instilling a love for learning. Our goal is to provide our preschoolers with the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills that will help them to thrive in elementary school and beyond.
After School Program
Our after-school program balances time to learn with time to play with friends, finishing homework, and physical activity. This program is available for children ages 4-8 and helps to bridge the time between school and a family’s work schedule. We also provide full-time child care during school breaks and holidays. The program is open to local area elementary school children; MEMS and Dorset Schools provide bus service to NDS at the end of the day. Whenever school is out, our program is there to encourage a child’s desire for new learning, fun activities and opportunities that celebrate their expanding world.
